SyK S.A., a firm in charge of providing IT services to the government tax collection agency of the province of Corrientes (Argentina), undertook a digital transformation program called TDR “Transformación Digital Rentas” to modernize its systems and adapt its processes and practices to an agile methodology. Their systems and technology stack were more than 15 years old and their team worked with traditional waterfall methodology with poor satisfaction rates in terms of agility and quality of the products they developed.
Different initiatives were undertaken on three fronts: people, processes and technology.
The entire team, both business and IT, was trained in agile methodologies. The necessary tools were implemented to keep track of requirements, keep the code versioned and automatically deploy the code in the different environments. The program was divided into three phases, because it would take several years to complete it. The entire account statement consultation site, the payment system, and self-management were modernized. Special focus was placed on the user experience, completely redesigning and improving the usability of the services. The application and infrastructure stack was completely changed to a cloud-native microservices solution.
the changes made allowed us to support the increase in demand from taxpayers who had to operate remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. By the end of 2023, almost 100% of the procedures were digitized, reducing resolution time by 80%, improving efficiency and precision. There was a 60% reduction in administrative costs by centralizing procedures on the website, reducing paper consumption (-50%) and energy (-25%). User satisfaction reached 95% evaluated by NPS. Collection increased by 137.2%. The company received various recognitions and awards for its commitment to quality and sustainability improvements, and in 2024, this project “Evolutionary Reengineering: Transforming the DGR towards a Comprehensive and Digital Model” received from the NovaGob Foundation of Spain the #1 position in the category “Efficiency in Apps.”
